Hidden Valley is among the skiing areas nearest the Pittsburgh, PA, metro area, a status it shares with the nearby Seven Springs ski area. Both Hidden Valley and Seven Springs are a drive of about an hour-and-a-half from downtown Pittsburgh, PA. Along the summit of the Laurel Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains, Hidden Valley enjoys heavy snowfalls and a long ski season.
