| Among the most extreme winter
sports,
snowboarding has gained a following in this mountainous land of
year-round extreme sports. Snowboarding parks in West Virginia may now
be found at all the of the ski resorts and primary downhill ski areas
and typically boast some of the nation's wildest boarding parks.
Boarding equipment shops and outfitters may be found throughout West
Virginia, most often near the skiing areas and in highland resort towns. |

Numerous
snowboarding parks can be found at snow skiing areas in nearby states. Four ski resorts are found in Virginia,
located near Interstate 81 (I-81) and the greater Shenandoah Valley
region. Six ski areas are located in the north-central and northeastern
section of Ohio,
near Columbus and Cleveland. Wisp Resort,
the single ski resort in Maryland
is in the western-most part of the state, just 45 minutes from
Morgantown, WV. More than 20 ski resorts and ski areas are located
throughout Pennsylvania,
including several found in the snow-covered Poconos, near New
York.
